Lufthansa growth in DUS: New summer destinations

Athens, Dubrovnik, Gdansk and Naples new in the timetable/ Resumption in summer of flights to Toronto, connecting flights with Air Canada partner airline.

Lufthansa German Airlines is continuing to grow in Dusseldorf: With the start of the summer flight schedule, non-stop services are to be expanded with flights to Athens, Dubrovnik, Gdansk, Naples and Toronto. “In the new timetable, we are offering our customers even more attractive destinations and non-stop connections. First-ever newcomers in the summer flight schedule are Athens, Dubrovnik, Gdansk and Naples; services re-commence to Toronto. The Lufthansa summer timetable in Dusseldorf includes non-stop flights to 58 destinations in Germany, Europe and North America. Gdansk is celebrating a premiere at Dusseldorf Airport – Lufthansa will be the only airline offering flights to the City from Dusseldorf in the summer programme.

From 30 March, Gdank will be served by five flights weekly (Mondays-Fridays) operated by a Canadair Regional Jet 700 (CR7). The flight from Dusseldorf to the Polish seaport and trading centre on the Baltic departs at 12.20 hours, the return flight is at 14.25 hours. Together with the neighbouring cities of Gdynia and Sopot, Gdanks forms a large conurbation in the region with a population of 1.15 million.

Naples is an ideal starting point for holidays on the Gulf of Naples, the Amalfi coast or the legendary Italian resort of Capri. Lufthansa is commencing its first non-stop flights to Naples from Dusseldorf in the summer timetable. A Canadair Regional Jet 900 (CR9) will be connecting Dusseldorf with the Campania region with twice-weekly flights (Thursdays and Saturdays).

Athens and Dubrovnik typify the wide and diverse choice of destinations Lufthansa is serving from Dusseldorf in a dense non-stop route network. Athens will be served by five flights weekly with a CR9, Dubrovnik twice-weekly with a Canadair Regional Jet 700 (CR7). Also in the Lufthansa summer schedule again are flights to Inverness, Jersey, Mallorca, Newquay, Olbia, Venice and Rejkjavik. Moreover, services ex Dusseldorf to Nice are being increased by five frequencies to daily flights.

In summer, Lufthansa is also resuming flights to Toronto: From 13 May an Airbus A330-300 will be operating thrice-weekly flights (Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays) ex Dusseldorf to Toronto, five weekly (Mondays, Thursdays to Sundays) from 24 May and again thrice weekly from 4 October. From Toronto, Star Alliance Partner Air Canada offers numerous, seamless connecting flights to a total of twelve beyond destinations in Canada, e.g. Winnipeg, Edmonton and Vancouver, as well as to six destinations in the USA (e.g. Boston, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Raleigh/Durham). With the renewed flights to Toronto, Lufthansa is accommodating the demand on North America routes ex Dusseldorf. The seasonal connection to Miami will again be flown this year up to 23 May as well as from 8 October 2010. Newark (New York) and Chicago will be served all year. Lufthansa is the only airline offering a three-class configuration with in-seat videos for passengers in Economy Class on North America routes out of Dusseldorf.

Since mid-January, Lufthansa has been offering premium customers a special service at Dusseldorf Airport: Exclusive and guaranteed parking lots are available to HON Circle Members and First-Class passengers in the newly opened P7 multi-storey carpark. These parking facilities are right opposite the terminal in the immediate proximity of the First-Class check-in area and the Senator Lounge. Parking with this new Lufthansa premium service costs 22.50 euros per day and three euros each hour thereafter. A rate which is also charged by the airport for regular parking.

Return flights with Lufthansa to all European destinations can be booked from 99 euros. The fare applies to flights in Economy Class and includes all taxes, charges and the Lufthansa Ticket Service Charge for flight reservations made online at www.lufthansa.com - Miles & More earn mile credits on these flights.
