CGN: New Spotting-Positions now available!

Hello everybody,

I know it is a bit Off-Topic and dusinfo shall be primarily used for Informations regarding expected Movements, but nevertheless I think I should post this informations here.

As you maybe noticed in the last weeks the Airport Cologne/Bonn got new regulations regarding the security. Therefore the glass on the visitor terrace got elevated so that spotting was nearly not possible any longer.

But... Because of the great commitment of the CGN Community as well as a kind of a "Facebook-Flashmob" of some Spotters the Airport reacted right now! In accordance with the Ministry of the Interior a Spotter Platform with a high of 2,10m was built!

Spotting the arrivals of Runway 14L is now possible without any problems, regarding aircrafts taxiing on "Bravo" or "Mike" I'm not quite sure, but later this day I'll have a look on that.

Here are some pictures, kindly allocated by the CGN Community:

Thanks for your interest and your appreciation for the Off Topic...

Now at the end I just wanna wish you and your families a Merry Christmas, peaceful holidays and a Happy new Year!

Best Regards,
Timo

UPDATE:
Today on the late afternoon I went to CGN to have a look by myself.

As already written, spotting arrivals on 14L is perfectly possible, also Touchdown pictures are easy to take.
Regarding the possibilities of taking pictures of taxiing aircrafts I can say, that aircrafts taxiing on "Mike orange" can be photographed, for "Mike", "Bravo" and "Alpha" you still need a 7 steps ledder or you'll have to shot trough the glass of the visitors terrace. Another possibility: The new "Kamps Backstube" (for all "Mike"-Taxiways) on the departure level of the airport.

Merry Christmas

Timo
